Without the authoritative Church, how do Protestants ever resolve scripture questions?

A simple survey of Protestant beliefs, all presumably based on the Bible, will find endorsements of a broad range of serious sins. For example, the Episcopalian organization is currently in schism over whether to ordain practicing s as bishops. Many Protestant organizations think a mother has a right to kill her unborn child. Don't we need the true Church to take authority over such false doctrines?
