Why are Front Wheel Drive cars considered uncool?

Even I don't think they're cool, but I'm honestly not sure why. Nothing wrong with a Honda Civic, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one. I guess because they're cheap-o cars, they're common, and they're built for safety and low maintenance rather than speed or style, and when they are e.g. Honda Civic Type R, it just seems pathetic and like they're trying too hard to be cool. I remember some Australian magazine once wrote that they were worried about the FPV brand turning their performance Falcons to FWD in order to help make the car more cost-efficient and greener, and I instantly hated it. What are your thoughts on FWDs?
